H&R Block Deluxe tax is relatively easy to use and is at a goodprice. If you have some unique issues (non-standard income sources, or unique tax breaks available) you may have to read through the IRS instructions, and/or play around a little with the program to see how to incorporate them, but for most the Q&A format makes doing your own taxes easy.

Was very disappointed with H&R Block's tax return software. I have a pretty straightforward return for married filing jointly, and had switched a few years ago from TurboTax after problems with their software to handle Roth conversions.
We are retired, and this is first year of my Required Minimum Distributions (RMD). Even though my distributions were done on time and properly, H&R Block software created IRS 5329 forms for both me and my wife (and my wife isn't even the right age for RMD!!!). I had to do outside research to educate myself and delete these forms from my return.
Also, the H&R Block software generated an IRS 5695 form for energy credit without explaining that my improvements did not qualify. Again, I had to do outside research to determine I should delete this form from my return.
This kind of sloppy, error-prone return is not what I wanted, and I will be looking for a different product next year.

This year's software is really causing me problems trying to complete my taxes correctly. I needed to file an amended return due to receiving tax info late from a company I use for investing and believe me that feature is there with no pre description of the process and apparently no way to correct any issues entered incorrectly. Once the 1040X is done the original return apparently disappears leaving you without a copy of the original interview. I'm at a loss as to how to fix this.

Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

Purchased this (the macOS version) for several years in a row. Works reasonably well. Crashed a few times, and trying to update within the program fails miserably with the versions for the last few years. In an infinite loop of downloading and applying the same update over and over. Had to cancel that, find the hidden disk image for the update and run that explicitly.
Don't know why the program crashed a couple of times when first opened and importing previous year's return. But ran well after that.
Help/Guidance is fine for simple situations some others are just not covered. For example, foreign pensions. If you enter a pension since it is a foreign country it does not have a TIN and thus you can't file it. Many countries have tax agreements that since the income is taxed by the foreign entity there is no US tax. Having an internal list of those countries and having a separate section for foreign pensions would be a nice addition.
