Does the hard math just fine. MD state wouldn't file for some technical reason and I never could get ahold of a human to fix the problem. Just the auto support telling me to print and mail the forms.

I’ve been using this product for a good 15 years, and that became very disappointed about H&R‘s marketing tactics. Estimating my returns already at year end used to give me a good picture of what’s to come. This time around, I needed to pay a full price to get the early additions, no coupons for loyal customers this year. Those came only for a late preparers.
Another issue I had with a type of 1099 but never received before. It was for a hobby income - poorly buried in the process. But the same 1099 type Is used for rental and royalty income. It was an absolute pain to reverse my wrong selection. The audit process kept flagging it as error, yet never gave instructions on how to remove/undo the incorrect selection and what to reverse. It was very frustrating.

Using tax software is the way to go. Our taxes are not overly complicated, and I've always done them myself. H&R Block lays everything out in an orderly fashion and allows for ignoring most of what isn't needed and expanding on what is. The only real issue I have is the size of the text. It is very small and there seems no way to enlarge it. There really needs to be some sort of simple zoom command.

As I’ve used this program for many years the routine or basic parts of doing taxes very straight-forward, clear, & easy. Though moving from Virginia to North Carolina on June 16th the use of non-resident AND part-year returns for Virginia questionable & confusing. Based on days in-state it seems an easy 45/55 percentage split is all program should have done, but I found using a calculator to apportion each income source very stone-age?
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Buggy software, would crash and give me no explanation or hint on to what was causing it. Couldn't use their import tool to easily import documents. This is what caused it to crash when I was trying to file my completed tax return forms.
