I have used H& R for taxes for 30 years. The last two years the link to Schwab has not worked and forced me to enter trades for the year manually. Worse, I call a rep, they give me a confirmation number that someone will call within 48 hours but two years in a row, they never call. Thinking of switching next year.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

Being in the non-stock holding class, I've always done my income taxes myself. However, with the Trump IRS, I found the instruction book confusing when dealing with Social Security income--fill out this form, go to this schedule, etc. Giving up in disgust, I went online. What a wonderful idea! I just answered the program's questions, had printouts in no time, and reports sent to the IRS and state tax office. I'll definitely use this for all future tax reports.
