This tax preparation software inspires confidence. It is easy to follow with great explanations along with checks and reminders so that nothing is overlooked. 2025 is my sixth year of using HRBlock and I will definitely be using their 2026 software next January.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

I've used this product for years and had better experiences with it in the past. This year was very frustrating. My wife and I had three (3) 1099R forms to enter in the income section. H&R Block Deluxe 2025 Software kept changing the first value (box 1) in or first 1099R form entry to equal the box 1 value in the last 1099R form entry, even though the values should have been different. In addition, the software wanted a value in box 16 even though our original 1099R forms didn't have a value in box 16. The final checks kept revealing an error due to not having a number in box 16. Many people complained about this on-line and we determined a fix based on their feedback. The fix involved entering the box 2a value (taxable amount) in box 16, which worked but seemed sketchy based on this not being what is shown on the original 1099R forms.
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

Horrible software

You reported my dividends twice, greatly increasing my tax liability. Now I have to file an amended return and my state return is also wrong. Next year I’ll use TurboTax. Your software is not user friendly, even for a very simple, basic return.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
