I filed using H & R Block's software this year but was not sure that it was leading me down the best path. It was late in the time left to file so I did and accepted that I may have lost the best path I should have taken. But due to a cross country move and many other complicating factors I just wanted to get it done, so I filed. I may go back and hire a CPA to check it out because I think that the software didn't agree with IRS rules and if a tax professional feels it's worth it I may file an amended return. It would be unfair of me to say H & R Block software did not do a good job because I really don't know. Right now all I know is that I have doubts that have left me wondering.

I've used H&R Block tax software for many years. Easy to use 'interview' format. My only complaints are the cost for submitting state returns and that the Deluxe program does not handle investments structured as limited partnerships very well. I needed to file an extension this year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

I've used H&R Block tex software for years. Always easy to follow directions & get the biggest refund. Also get lots of questions answered right on the screen. Price is worth it!

I had been using Turbo Tax for several years and this year they did not have software that would run on my older Windows 10 operating system. My brother mentioned that he uses H&R Block Tax Software so I decided to look it up online and I liked what I saw and purchased it.
I was very pleased with how it worked and was able to complete my tax returns for Federal and State in one day and then I was able to file online the next morning with no problem. I will be using H&R Block Tax Software to file next year.

I did not find the answers to questions to be helpful. For example, I wanted to know where I would enter ithe data on qualified charitible distributions from my IRA. The response to my search for help explained what a QCD is but did not provude any information about where these data should be included in the return.

The questionnaire makes the taxpayer comfortable that he is filing completely and accurately. The search could be improved to include more words and phrases. For example, you cannot specify whether you want tax questions for the current or following year.
