As a CPA, I have experience using professional tax preparation software. For my personal tax returns, I use H&R Block software because its interface and functionality closely resemble professional tax software. In addition, it has a user-friendly interface for the average user.

It didn't file it

Very disappointed with product, I thought that I had filed my taxes over a month ago and kept waiting for my Federal refund. It never came! Turns out that the program NEVER UPLOADED the forms, now I am a month late because I had to resubmit it this week. After using this program for many, many years, I will probably never use it again

Horrible software (Deluxe) ever! No email support

Last week, we realized that our taxes had been filed using the incorrect 2024 tax form, rather than the proper 2025 form. Relying on your program’s assurance that everything was correct, we didn’t notice the error until after mailing the modified return on April 4, 2026. Upon discovering the mistake, we completely redid our taxes using the correct 2025 tax form and submitted them via e-File on May 28, 2026.
During this process, the e-filing system didn’t request any backup forms—even though all supporting documents were attached to the original, incorrect year. While we can copy and resend those documents, the e-filing didn’t prompt us for them, which added to the confusion. This situation has been very frustrating, especially considering our decades-long history with your software. Several errors appeared to originate from HR Block’s platform, rather than the forms themselves, which has made us reconsider using your service in the future.
Fortunately, we were eventually able to submit the correct return, and the 2025 form provided a significantly larger refund—reflecting the appropriate tax year. However, we are concerned because the IRS now has both the original 2024 submission and the newly filed 2025 return.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Even with the accuracy check ,it wasnt realized until I printed my return out. That even though I didn't claim my daughter as a dependant she was claimed under the EIC somehow. Now I have to turn around and do an amended return

Not a good experience.

Your tax software has incorrectly figured my federal and state taxes for two years in a row. Both state and federal returns were changed by the appropriate tax authority resulting in delays receiving my refunds. I will not be using your software again.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

The program never succeed in downloading my brokerage data, thus requiring manual entry. The e filing did not work. I never found out what caused the IRS to reject the filing after multiple attrmpts. Filed paper in the end.
