I always used H&R Block software since 1998. I tried Turbo tax software once for comparison, I still liked H&R Block software because of the price and familiarity. 2025 version had added a lot of new tax law explanations and double checks. I'll recommend it for the future.

I used TaxCut for the first time this year, since TurboTax would no longer run on Windows 10. Overall, the program worked well to do moderately complex taxes. I think the way the program deals with K-1 forms from partnerships could be improved, although TurboTax had some of the same problems. The only part of TaxCut that I really didn't like was the review process. Identifying issues that could keep a return from being correct or even acceptable by the IRS is one thing, but doing all the verifications of worksheets that the IRS never sees is a pain. This could be averted if HRBlock makes it more clear that you can skip the corrections to worksheets. I also did not like the fact that I had to manually visit each Schedule B transaction that was imported to verify its correctness. Not a problem if you only have a few, but I had hundreds. This step itself took me the better part of an hour.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

90% great. Complex situations not handled great - I got a k-1 and k-3 from my employer. The software had no place to enter all the information and no guidance. In the end AI explained it all and most of the information didnt need to be entered. That wouldve been very helpful to know
