I moved from Florida to Alabama mid year. The state program did not make it easy to do a partial year. I had to do significant research to figure out why my state return kept getting rejected.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

There were serious bugs and errors int his year's release that went unfixed. I continued to check for updates to download the latest version hoping it would be addressed but it never was. This included the program changing the name and birth dates of your dependents after saving and the program changing the name and details of your W2. I've been a customer since 2011 but I'm absolutely done. Last year - the program was the slowest of all the major tax software to update the electric vehicle credits so this is a two year trend of it being the worst tax software on the market. Don't buy it.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had a 1099-B situation I couldn’t understand. I entered 1099-B information for two companies and when I hit Finished, another 1099-B form already filled out with one of the companies I had entered previously popped up with different financial info already filled in. When I deleted it and went back to make sure the data for the previous two companies were still there, I couldn’t find it. So, I finally continued on with both versions of 1099-B screens.

I have used H&R block software for several yeas. there are 3 things that I feel should be changed. one that has been across years and one that was broke in an update this year. the other was the first time I attempted to use it.
1. the size of the application is "fixed". I have more space on my monitor but the actual size of the application is locked. Then you put your form in a small box within the application. The size of the text in the form can be changed. However, it quickly goes beyond the size of the space allocated to it. A very poor design. If it remains this way next year you can expect to lose a customer.
2. In an update this year you "fixed" the brackets on the amount owed,. Unfortunately, that makes the value the inverse of what it should be based on the text of the field. Someone didn't properly test the changes before it was "updated". Poor testing and quality control. I wonder what else is wrong that I can't see in an application that I am trusting to do my taxes!
3. The "planning" portion. I was going to use your software to print the estimated tax forms for 2026. There was zero help for doing that. While it appeared that was a possibility by the questions, it didn't.
I would recommend this to a friend!
