LOVE H&R Block Software

Been using HRB for YEARS and will never change. The tools are helpful when itemizing. I have a pretty simple return, but the step-by-step sequential process makes this the ultimate easy-to-use tax return software. Finished my entire return in less than an hour. If you're using someone else's tax prep software, just know that you're doing so at your own risk.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Product was released before some very basic tax changes were reflected. There was no warning about not deducting home equity interest unless used for home improvement. They wrote an article about this last October which I found on the net. I had to go in and change my own return and then figure out a way to take it out of my return to change my refund amount. Basic stuff which should have been ready to go by the time I started my return in February. Don't know if I will use this product again.
Pros: Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor filing procedures

I had to go through filing steps 3 times before it got accepted. The state filings charged me 3 times but would not identify the specific problem. It appears that an update did not work properly. I have using this software for over 12 years and this is the only time that experienced any problems. I will think long and hard next year before using again
Cons: Hard to prepare

So easy

I have used HR Block for years with good results. I was worried this year because of the changes in the tax law and our life. Not a problem! I entered our information, the program asked a few questions, and our taxes are filed. The fact we will be getting a return is icing on the cake.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents

Received and email since I used it last year. Was supposed to be federal + one state but would not let me file the state.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

Capital gains is a mess

You changed the Schedule D for people who have numerous stock transactions. I imported 226 transactions and when I started to print it was prinnting a page for each transaction. Last year they would put 30-40 on a page so I only had about 6 pages. This year it was going to be 226. I cancelled the printing and just put the end totals in manually. Why did you change it from last year. This is a messs.
