The software becomes more confusing to navigate each year. It may be the state of CT , but even the simple items on my W2 require googling to try to figure out what to do. The software Help function does not help.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

I use a MAC. The software was very bugg. It wouldn't properly save my returns. It taxed me on Income that according to the NJ department of revenue should not have been taxed.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've using H&R Block software to prepare my taxes since the 1990's. It takes the worries out of preparing your taxes. It seems to take into account all the issues I might encounter. Would I get by with a free program? I might, but I just have confidence in using the paid version.

I bought both the basic and deluxe versions. Did not see a difference between them. Same interface, same questions.
I also was not happy with questions asked about RMD's the software knew my age but ask age related questions.
I had an inherited IRA and was using the 10 year rule, but the software wanted me to fill out another form 22xx. I did not need to.
I simply series of questions as in a flow chart would have eliminated this confusion.
or should I say 20 questions is it bigger then a bread box, is it animal, vegetable of mineral, etc etc.
This is one of the reasons I bought the deluxe version to be honest it was not worth it.
