Slow and Confusing

I wanted to run my taxes several different ways to see if Standard deduction or Itemized deduction would be better this year since the tax laws changed. H&R Block Software makes you create separate returns to compare, and you cannot jump back and forth easily. So now I have 8 returns saved, and i'm confused which one is complete, and the best tax situation for me. Also, my Federal return was rejected, and I have to mail in my state. I am not at all confident in the numbers that are in here. Document import was a pretty good feature, but I have to check everything that was imported, why not just do it myself.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare

Good Tax Software but needs more work on Healthcar

H&R Block has become my favorite tax software. Needs more work on calculating Healthcare related information. Sent the user to look up IRS instructions for items that should have calculated. Hopefully next year will better support Healthcare tax issues.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

Makes an unpleasant activity bearable

Everyone hates to pay taxes (everyone except Warren Buffett, evidently) largely because the IRS paperwork that's involved is a huge pain in the backside and the tax regulations only make sense if you're a CPA. Until such time as the US realizes that a national sales tax would make matters easier for all concerned, we're stuck this annual extravaganza of forms and regulations. I had been taking my taxes to an accountant, but started doing my own five years ago. I've used the H&R Block software every year, and I find it's well worth every penny.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

terrible program updates did not work

Does the job

Have used it for three years now. Only one really confusing thing that happened - it told me I had entered an incorrect zip code from a 1099 when I went to e-file. Why not tell me when I entered it, or when the software did its audit review?
Printing is very odd. When I just said to print it printed each page in the upper left corner of the paper in about 1/8 its actual size. In order to print in its full size I had to tell it to put it to PREVIEW, then print from there.
Only other comment I have is I never could find how to make use of an 8606 form from long ago that may have had an effect on taxable income. I did not see a good way of pursuing this with H R Block.
