The software hasn't gotten better over the years and now it's very easy to use. The only thing that gives me a problem now is at the start of the setup process. The software gives me the option to use the H&R default location or to choose my own preferred location. Unfortunately, it goes ahead and puts it in the default location anyway and I have to find it and move it. Once I've got it where I want it, then the software recognizes the new location. This has always been a problem, but at least I'm ready for the battle.

Overall, pretty easy to file; except the review questions just kept going in circles. I had to enter 0.00 instead of 0 or blank in the review after I had completed my return. The software reject 10-digit zip codes.

Software only works if you have taxable income

I’ve been using H&R Block for many years, and it’s consistently easy to use. I’ve noticed that a few banks and institutions don’t yet support data import, which would be a helpful improvement. I especially appreciate that it allows me to file up to five returns, which is great now that I’m handling my kids’ taxes for their summer jobs. The only downside is that I can’t use it for my parents anymore since they’re retired and don’t have taxable income. Please look into this as an enhancement for the future.
