Gets the job done, but interface barely tolerable

It took me through a complicated process, and I have no reason to think it didn't complete my return properly. But it's hard to navigate sometimes. I couldn't figure out how to enter the estimated state tax payments I made through the year, and when I finally found a help message telling me I had to enter it in the same place I entered the federal estimated tax payments, it gave me a list of steps to navigate through the interface. I had to take a picture of the screen because there were too many steps to remember; it would have been nice if it just gave me a button to go straight to that screen. It would have been even nicer if it just put that step in a more intuitive location, such as the state tax adjustments.
Sometimes when I want to check on some detail in the return, it makes me go step-by-step through a segment of the return creation process to get to the correct screen.
I'm annoyed by the way when it tells me to check something that may or may not be okay, it still shows the warning after I've checked it because there's no way to tell it that I've confirmed the detail it was questioning.
It's also annoying that every time I exit the return or close the program, it asks me if I want to save the file, even if I hadn't changed anything. It always has me second guessing whether I accidentally changed something.
Honestly, the only reasons I keep using this product every year is that it seamlessly imports information from previous years to start and submit the current return, and I don't want to have to learn a new program.

It's easy to use and the step-by-step instructions are clear and easy to follow. Price is reasonable. I've been using it for years and the frequent updates between when I buy it and when I use it ensure that I am always current with whatever changes are made in the Federal or State laws.

The program is pretty good but for a couple of things. First and foremost; For the las t four years we have not had enough deductions to itemize and have take the standard deduction. This year was no different. I knew it was not going to be different but had to go through the entire process of filling out every darned box until I got to the end.Then it told me I should take the standard deduction. I ALREADY KNEW THAT!! Why couldn't there be a button at the beginning of the program to click on to just take the standard deduction instead of spending three or four hours filling in blanks needlessly. Yes it took me that long because I'm old. Give me a break. OK, rant over. Also, the state program didn't have one of the forms I needed so I had to go to the state website to get it.

Beware, the software makes no mention of the substantial "convenience fee" that it will collect when you select to pay via credit card.
