federal kept rejecting - went to turbo tax and it accepted and refund was 500 higher
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

Validation problems

I have used H&R Block software for 10 years In that time I have always had problems with Royalties. This year was no exception. The data is in the file, It shows on the return correctly and I believe the taxes are correct but I get hard errors in the validation step, and instructions to go back through the interview, which I did several times. Completely deleted, re-added to no avail still same errors. Finally submitted with errors and it was immediately accepted. The second set or errors dealt with uploaded financial data The software wants you to go through every transaction line by line and validate. Not just the total. So I did that. The soft errors still showed up, 216 lines. Again, I wasted a lot of time trying to eliminate these errors but could not. They did not affect the filing.

Cons: Time consuming

I have been using this product for 10 years and get the tax done at very cheap cost.

I’ve used H&R Block Tax SW for many years with good results and generally a good experience. This year I sold some shares of a Canadian company that did not generate a 1099-B and the new AI feature showed me the way. But I also had some confusion with IRA ROTH conversations and rollovers. In the end it got sorted out.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
