The software this year was more challenging than last. It doesnt help to fix issues within the return. If there is an issue, it will tell you in a roundabout way what the issue is, then it's up to you to find it.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Used for three years, this year there was a problem computing the state…was going to get 2600, only got 1595. I don’t think the program worked right.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

I like that I can import lengthy statements directly and securely from my brokerage. I find it can be difficult to find the items in the software that require manual checking when flagged to do so — the Take Me To only goes to the top level, and the top level of grouped transactions doesn’t have a mark indicating that drilling down is required. I have to try to remember where I last clicked and find the flagged transactions by trial and error.
I wish the interview had more plain text rather than repeating the IRS instructions. The state return is particularly bad at that.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

I used TurboTax for over 25 years. This is my fourth year using H&R Block and I am satisfied with it, and it is significantly lower in cost. I am glad I made the change.
It was relatively easy to make the transition and the programs are similar.
My only criticism with H&R Block is the difficulty in moving backward in you tax forms to make changes. You basically have to start over if you want to review specific documents and it is not efficient. This area needs improvement.

I have used this for years and love being able to import last years info as well as this years. This year I had a frustrating experience try to locate and view schedule 3 on the 1040. A search for schedule 3 returned NO RESULTS using search, "take me to", help and "AI". had to chat with support and while I was waiting for a few minutes for an answer of how to findit I realized it was part of the 1040 form and was able to got o the 1040 form to find it. There need to be a smarter AI and more comprehensive search function.
