I have been using for years. I may have to rethink next years tax program purchase. The problem I have is with a form K-1 I receive from one investment. Unfortunately, the H&R program says I must manually enter the numbers on a separate form. When I go to do that, the program says, "If anything is changed on this form, you will not be allowed to submit your return electronically.

This software used to be good, but I've had too many bugs. The updates don't tell you what's been updated. Support is terrible. Going to go back to TurboTax or some other tax software. Will not purchase this again. They get you to prebuy by December of the prior year and then when you try to get a refund because the software is so bad, they say sorry. Only a 30 day window.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I passed away in June 2025 and am not qualified to answer your survey. My son handled my final tax return.
I understand he couldn't E-file because, even though your software stated a certain form was not required the return was repeatedly rejected by the IRS because it was not included.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Hard to import documents

Overall, product is well made and easy to use. One suggestion for improvement: review and update the wording in the interview section on retirement income associated with 1099R's. If user has a 1099R, they are required to go through the 'Required Distribution' section of the interview. Maybe not common, but many users have pension-related 1009R's and may also withdraw funds from Qualified Retirement accounts before MRDs are required. Asking the user if they've taken their required MRDs when there is no requirement is confusing. Add additional wording such as " If you do not have any MRD associated with this 1099, answer 'Yes' to the question - "Have you taken your required MRD".

I bought the software in the late Fall when it first comes out and updated it in January to get prepared for the tax season. Software easily imports old return data and the auto interview process is easy to follow. One feature I wish it had (and maybe I just didn't see it but it's there) is the ability to quickly show me the difference between options to file jointly vs. separately. I would think a few clarifications in how I load the data would make this straightforward and give me confidence that we're minimizing our tax burden.
