I switched to H&R Block Deluxe from Turbo Tax which I have used for many years because it was cheaper and I wanted to see if it was better than Turbo Tax. I find them both about the same. I have income from one state and live in another and H&R Block didn't necessarily explain the double taxation quite as well as Turbo Tax, so I feel like I guessed a bit on how much $ to leave out of the double taxation bucket. Then it questioned me that it was a large amount and I double guessed myself. So here's hoping my state tax return where I worked is correct!
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

I've been using the H&R Block tax preparation software for almost 10 years now. Fortunately, my returns are pretty straightforward, but in those times that I've had something different or unusual to deal with, the help features have given me the information I need or pointed directly to the IRS docs that I used to figure out what I needed to do. Also, the seamless integration with the income tax systems of the two states I've lived in, was most appreciated. Very satisfied.
Pros: Easy to prepare

First problem with software in over15 years

First time ever, my state taxes paid did not roll over to my state software. Very disappointed. Had to override which means I have to print and mail, not efile.

I have bought H & R Block tax software for many years and I am always pleased at how informative and user friendly it is. Even someone with little to no knowledge of the IRS' tax requirements can complete this program fast and easy.
