I switched to H&R Block this year due to compatibility problems with Windows 10 and Turbotax. I got my taxes done, but had some difficulty with the form pages. Probably due to my use of TT for the past 27 years. And I will probably use it again next year.

I've used this software for quite a few years now and I breezed through my return this year. However, my wife discovered what appears to be a glitch in the Schedule C section while preparing her return. I was somewhat skeptical at first, but after an hour or more trying to convince her she was wrong, I now believe she's correct. She's waiting to see if it's fixed in the upcoming program upgrade March 11. If not, she'll be calling you guys.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Works great except failed e-filing with no reason

The questionnaire portion of the software worked pretty well and I was able to complete the Federal 1040 forms with itemized deductions without too much effort. However, there were a few issues with the state forms (Minnesota) since the H&R Block software doesn't perfectly handle the details where MN taxes and itemization varies from federal taxes. However, e-filing didn't work, and it didn't give a reason why. Unfortunately I tried to e-file both federal and state at teh saem time. Since the Federal e-file was rejected, the State returns are in limbo. I ended up wasting the fee to e-file state returns, and mailing them in. In the future I'll make sure that federal e-file is accepted before e-filing state returns.

Cons: Time consuming

Through my own fault I am still plodding along with a computer incapable of upgrade to Windows 11 and was now facing the fact that Turbotax, which I used for taxes for at least the last ten years, wasn't going to provide a version for 10 this year. Simple solution-----go with Block which plays on 10. Short result---solution not so simple, Learning curve steeper than expected. Taxes did get filed but I spent a little more time than I thought I should.

I have used H&R Block Deluxe for the past 12 years and it has been mostly great. The downfall is in the past 2 years you cannot print a PDF of your return. It just keeps reverting back to the 2023 return. If you want an electronic copy you have to print, scan, save and then shred the hard copy. Apparently, it is a known problem that you just won't fix.
