I have been using H&R tax software since 2006 when it was TAX cut. I think it has worked fine for me.

Terrible on line help and no phone support

your on-line help is terrible. For Pete's sake, give the reader a link to where they need to go. Most of the time your directions are simply wrong. Also, I had to simply change prior year's AGI, and there is no edit feature for that!!! Terrible! Then when I tried calling support, i was sent a link that made me register for support by entering in my SSN. It is time to clean house at H&R. Then you charge for Missouri and don't have all the forms, so you have to file by mail.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I changed from TurboTax to HRB this year because I wanted to do this at home and not online. The software was pretty straight forward bug had a lot of bugs. Particularly it always signed me up for the Michigan home heating credit even though I never signed up for it
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
