I have been using H&R Block's Tax Prep. Software ever since they acquired it from Kiplinger's when it was called "Tax Cut." I had previously used Kiplinger's Tax Cut beginning with the 1997 TY. I have used the software every year continuously since 1997 (28 years). H&R Block's software has worked extremely well for me. It is easy to use, and to the best of my knowledge, comprehensive. I have never been audited. I electronically file my tax return by mid-February each year, and I invariably receive my refund within 10-14 days. Sometimes, I do have to download some specific IRS documents to fully understand some of the questions and worksheet answers, but in the end, it adds to my knowledge and confidence that the software has provided the correct answers and numbers. Life is complicated, filing federal income tax returns is complicated, but H&R Block's tax software makes the entire process easy. It also provides a very efficient way for me to collate and assess all of my financial issues annually.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Not Print and Mail Friendly, Otherwise Good as Any

I've been using this program for years and with the exception of a couple of small quirks, I'm very happy with it.
I have some relatives that insist on print and snail mail filing. Seeing that all of the information is online anyway, that seems a little silly to me, but I respect their wishes. But printing the filing copy is an exercise in frustration. What I end up having to do is select "print to pdf" and print on paper from my pdf reader. It would also be nice if they included an envelope wizard, but I have one on another program so that's not a huge deal for me.
The other one is that, when doing the final check, will get stuck in a loop. Double check this number... check it... return to the program... double check this number. No button for "Yes, I verified this number."
One thing for the wish list, and not a ding. I wish that they would do a single program and update it for each year. Not to save money; the program is reasonably priced and that's not an issue, but to save hard drive space. It would also make it easier to open prior years' returns, if necessary.

Cons: Time consuming

Good but still difficult

Works well. Clear instructions.
Only caveats:
1. You need to activate using Chrome browser or MS Edge. It does not work with Firefox.
2. I paid for a version with State filing too, but when you get to the end they want you to pay another fee..
