I've used this software for years and I generally like it--easy to use and mostly accurate. During each of the last three years I have had some income from a consulting gig. Otherwise I only have pension and social security income. I've used that limited earned income to fund Roth IRA investments (i.e. put money into a traditional IRA & then "back door" it into a Roth IRA. The HR Block software doesn't support this. I've complained about it, but it has never been fixed. I did figure out how to directly modify the tax forms to allow me to correctly file my returns. But, because I modify the forms from what the software wants to do I'm not allowed to file electronically. Perhaps an unusual situation, but a word of caution.
