I have used H&R for tax prep because it makes it fairly easy. I especially like the fact they prepopulate the forms with information from the previous year's forms. My major complaint is that while I bought the Federal and State software for the Mac, there is no way to get the state software without calling the help line. This has been the case for several years and they seem to be unable to fix this issue.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

Data entry screens could be laid out a lot better, e.g. 1099-DIV, INT & R should have all input on a single screen. should not have to scroll over 2 screen to enter all data. Also, the software should download US interest percentages for non-taxables from mutual funds and then automatically compute the necessary amounts to be reported on state reporting.
Also, some information is not requested until final review and then it is not clear how to how/where to enter change, e.g. taxpayer tax-id's not carried over to all forms.
Bank account information for refunds/payments is not carried over from prior year and not clear where to enter it. It cannot be entered into the 1040 forms.
