I’ve used H&R Block software for years, and it’s more powerful and easy to use than TurboTax. That said, when I needed more direction to fill out detailed codes from a partnership K-1 return, it just referred me to forms on the IRS website that had complex bureaucratic instructions.

Works Well Overall BUT New Issue With QBI 8995-A

Reliable features each year. However, for 2024 firm 1040 returns the QBI did not work. While form 8995 series for 2023 did not provide for e-filing that form, it did allow the manual entry for the deduction from taxable income, this year the final accuracy check message to enter the figure manually it would not work or allow the filing at the final accuracy check during the transmission step. I could not override the checked box that said the amount could not be determined, even though the failure message said to enter the amount to clear the warning and proceed.
I had to eliminate the form to e-file or file a oaoer return with the form attached. I list my deduction if approx $140 as a result. Please fix this, and if at all possible allow for filing or attaching the 8995-A form.

It works but is not easy to use and the "help" is often not useful. I also encountered a logic flaw in the interview process. I needed assistance and the person I worked with on the phone was friendly and worked hard to solve my issue, which involved working around a logic error.
Cons: Hard to prepare

Does not give very much information about how to report investments.
Also, once you enter the routing number and account number for EFT, and then have to go back to another form to change a value that modifies your total amount due, it is impossible to navigate back to the EFT page using their instructions. The app just keeps complaining that the amount you owe is not the same as the amount in the EFT form, but won't let you go back and change it to stop the complaints!

Cons: Time consuming
