I have been using the H&R Block Deluxe software for a couple of years. The only complaints that I have are that some terms were not explained and "navigating" the software. I had to make some fixes and it seemed like I went to the beginning of the set of questions. Also, printing or saving my return took some time to figure out. The Save As PDF did not work. I had to use the Save As A File in the Print function and some thigs were "off-shifted". I didn't write down the terms that I previously mentioned because taxes gives me a headache even though mine are "simple". Basically, I had a W2 and property tax. I was wondering if I need to answer all the software questions for this. I realize that all of the questions are needed for some people, but couldn't it ask what income I have (from a W2), have any kids, and made 1 or 2 other questions and figure that I get the Standard Deduction like I usually get and go from there.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

I've used the H&R Block Federal + State tax software for several years. It is a great help in that 1) you are able to keep up on all the changes in the law, 2) you import my personal info so I don't have to spend time entering this, 3) your software carries all the Federal information over to my state tax form and then works with me to make the needed adjustments, 4) the software double checks the tax forms to look for possible errors, and 5) you give me an assurance that you will help with an enrolled agent if there is an audit or question. Your system is very detailed so it does take time to carefully go over things, but that only contributes to my confidence level.
