I had issues with my Minnesota return and could not file it electronically. One issue was that I needed to enter a state income amount for payer State of MN Retirement on my federal form, but there was no place to do so. The second issue was that I was to enter a 7-digit Payer State ID for payer MN. Dept. of Unemployment. I had it entered, but the program did not recognize it. Each year I am having more and more issues with the MN state program. If I can't e file federal and state together, there is no sense buying the program. The state and federal programs need to be compatible.

I have used H&R Delux for 10 years and have always been very satisfied with the product. I find it esy to use and quite intuituve. The process order takes you to all the items that are needed and also has an easy way to go back to areas which were not available initially, or have been corrected, as often happens with brokerage accounts (1099-B). I have never had a problem with the accuracy of the returns. This is a good value for the money especially compared to other similar products on the market.

The federal software is great. The state leaves a lot to be desired, specifically: 1. It's too expensive. 2. It doesn't include e-file. 3. As nearly as i can tell, if you take the standard deduction on the federal return, the software does not transfer your itemized deductions to the state return where they might be used.

Software works well enough. I have issues with lack of state credit forms. Also program KNOWS a federal Schedule A is needed, it even states steps to print it. So, why doesn't the program print the federal Schedule A with the other state forms needed to file?

It is unfortunate that when you purchase the software you also have to pay for the returns (both state and federal) to be electronically filed. Also, the software cannot properly handle 1099B forms for partnerships and 1099DIV's for stocks
