The software doesn't provide the needed information and guidance to submit state nor federal tax returns via electronic submission. I was rejected 3 times until I had to go irs and state site to get the right information to submit
Have been using H&R tax software for years. Very easy to just follow the questions and tax return is complete. Free e filing is worth the program itself.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
Takes you step by step and helps you know how much you owe as you add w2s and other income, and then how much your deductions help you. If you don’t know, you just go through anyway and the questions will help it figure out if you need to turn in anything for that topic. Still could use help understanding the whole investment part, though…
I like this program, it is easy to follow and easy to use. I like that it checks you return for errors and warnings, and lets you fix them. However, there are two places where you can detail your K-1, one for partnerships and one for income. I was unaware of that and during the process I filled out both k-1 forms. The program combined them and added both to my total and reduced my refund accordingly. There was no warning or message to this fact. I only noticed it while looking at the forms on the computer and only tipped off by looking at the printed copy of my return. I hope next year that the program will warn me if I'm filling out the same k-1 twice. Yes, I will buy the 2021 version next year, and be on the lookout for this problem.
