I had to fill out the 5329 form because I had forgotten to take an RMD last year. I understood that you weren't supposed to pay the penalty unless the IRS specifically denied your excuse. But your software continued to put the penalty amount on the form and I couldn't override it. So I ended up paying the penalty. I thought perhaps the IRS would then refund that money but who knows? I'll probably have to file an amended return and try to get the penalty returned to me.

This long-time user enjoys the "user-friendly" aspect of the program. My return is not highly complicated, but still ends up being 17 pages--that's not the software's fault--it's the tax code. I am still amazed that I am able to complete my own return with confidence!

Good Federal, issues with Michigan State return

Federal SW works well with good navigation features, but could not efile state due to issue with bank account information entry. Though I entered the account numbers correctly, SW blocked me from proceeding indicating that my first, and "confirmation" account numbers did not match.

I have use H&R Block software for years. This is the first year that I have had major problems with the software. When inputting donations everything when OK until the software did a check that couldn't be resolved. It would not allow any input. Tried to submit electronically Treasury rejected. I expect to be audited based on this.
