Needs work

There's no place to claim exemptions on the Alabama State Return for anything other than my military retirement and social security. I also draw a small state stipend retirement that is exempt from state taxes. The only way I could exempt it was to add it to the military retirement total.
Cons: Time consuming

I have used H&R Block several years and have been very satisfied. Easy to use and process. Asks needed questions and explains how to proceed and data to enter. Easy to “go to” specific forms or topics.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Why the Delay?

I didn’t have any unusual form, retired with. Social security. Standard form like a W-2. What was the problem that this standard form needed an update that delayed my filing. I found many were asking this same question

For years I have been using your product and will continue.
Question: When using the "Take me to" to check out a form, why can't you see your State 1040. Its annoying that I have to print it out to check something.

Software did not allow efile in NY

Finished my federal and NY state taxes and was ready to e-file. To my great surprise, the software did not support e-file in NY when a very common form (IT-2109.9-1) is used to compute possible under payment of estimated tax. It would have cost me $80 more if I did not file this form. I ended up filing the return on paper (as suggested by the software) even though it is illegal to do so in NY. I hope this does not end up causing a problem.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is not my 1st experience with H.R.Block software that has really been negative. I would NOT recommend this program because software was difficult to understand and telephone support was useless.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my 8th year using H&R Block Deluxe Tax Software. It is so easy to use and I have peace of mind that my tax return is accurate and my refund is maximized.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
