Great Software

I used this software last year to do my taxes. Saved myself a high fee if done by local tax center. Really easy to follow screens. I didn't do something right first time because return was extremely high. Went through again and double checked my numbers and found mistake. Don't forget to print AGI page once IRS accepts your e-file. You will need that number for next year. Also, don't forget to manually enter any 1099's if not imported from previous year. Check all numbers three or more times for errors.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Time consuming

I have used this software for many years. Easy to get, easy to use and has many built in features that make it easy to finish. I have found their customer support to be excellent.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

hard to find where to enter PIN

Overall, the software works well. My only gripe is that the place to enter identity protection PIN is buried under the misc tab. I suggest having an additional reminder and opportunity to enter in the file section.

What happened this year?

I've been using HR Block software exclusively for years - the last 4 years on this pc - and this year marked the first time I'd encountered a problem. What gives?! My wife and I have filed joint returns for decades and you are asking if she filed a return? I have to override last year's AGI of 0?? And taking the steps needed to address those flaws now means I cannot file State electronically and have to print and mail that return? Overall the return went well the your software does the job but the way it worked left me with a lot of physical steps this year.. Very frustrating!!
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unclear directions and guidance

I've been using H&R Block Deluxe Software for about 10 years. Until last year (2020) the guidance provided in loading my information has been pretty clear. This year it seems you've lost interest in helping me do my taxes.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Switched from your major competitor years ago and haven't looked back! H & R works just as well (maybe better) and is a much better value. My taxes are no longer taxing!

I used to be a Turbo Tax user but about 5-6 years ago Turbo Tax messed up calculating the taxes on my stock sales - it actually showed I owned more in tax that the actual proceeds from the stock sales!! I had to open the .pdf files and manually make the corrections.
After that incident I was done with them...their software is unreliable, expensive, and not user friendly. Since then I've been using H&R block software and it is SO EASY to follow, understand, make changes, and eFile. I have told many friends to try H&R block software...they have and now they use it every year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
