My wife and I have been HR Block tax customers for years. I have always appreciate the company's product and HRB 2021 Taxes were no different. This is the first year we have used E File and we are pleased.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

Data Verification Issue

Data Verification issue near completion of my return. The directions are to enter "NYC" on Linee 14 of form 1099-R if I am to file NY State Tax electronically. This is an erroneous line no. for this entry and should be changed to line no. 18 instead. Line no. 18 is displayed very prominently with "NYC-RES" already entered and apparently should be changed to "NYC"

Pretty simple to use, affordable, everything I needed to handle my needs, including capital gains.

Poor import data

Had to wait until 3/25/2022 before I could import data from Schwab same problem did not exist with Turbo tax.
This is the 2nd year in a row won’t be a user of your product next year

Except for issue with Schwab imports being delayed (Schwab issue), this is an easy way to complete Federal Income Tax filing. I haven't ever had an audit due to HR Block SW, I did have to prove I was required to pay alimony though(???).
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

Too many hidden expenses

I had to pay for an extra state and they charged me the same price I paid for the whole program...

after spending hours filling in forms, the software updated and would no longer save forms. I spent over 2 hours on the phone, got shuffled to four different people , none of whom helped, but kept trying to connect me to someone else. I finally had to log in to my account and start all over again. When my fed return was rejected the instructions were poor. I corrected the form and inadvertently resent the state form and got charged an additional 20 dollars

Explanation of New Features

It would have been helpful to include a section about what changed in the HR Block software from 2020. It would have saved a lot of time for me. I have used HR Block software for many years, and this software was the most time consuming ever. It's usually very simple and straightforward.
