I love the HRBlock deluxe program. I have been using it for years and really like how it works. I am really disappointed this year in that I needed personal help with one part of the tax return. Form 4684. I called the Alpharetta ga office and the Roswell ga office and BOTH refused to help me. I just needed help filling out 4684 and was willing to pay the full rate for a tax return and both offices turned me away.

I have used H&R Block's software for years and had been happy. Now it's calculating a penalty for my Wife's inherited IRA distribution. Searching on-line I found that this has been happening to others since 2019. My Wife has had this IRA since 2014 and there has never been an issue before. It's set up to pay out over her estimated lifetime and the new 10 year payout requirement does not apply to us. I found a suggested fix from others and now we are waiting to see if the IRS will accept my entries. Would have been nice if your software had something on my situation.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Generally very helpful. But we donated a vehicle this year. The software forced us to say what the value of the vehicle was when we received it, even though it also explicitly said that wasn't necessary (since we had the vehicle for over 12 months). That was confusing and annoying.

the simple and straight forward areas work fine, but there are a few areas where i can't figure out where the software got those values from; checking the Help for those areas does not explain anything nor point to where the gov't tax code that are relevant.
