It gets the job done but could be improved The questionnaire has a few confusing questions & the help isn't as good as I think it could be. I have a problem every year in figuring out how to correctly handle my wife's inherited IRA based upon the program's interview questions. I even had to change my answer after I saw the results in the federal forms to be filed. I changed my answer to the next best answer even though the description wasn't what I thought was a best match. That worked. I switched from TurboTax when they removed the investments feature & put it in their most expensive version which is overkill for us.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have been a long term user of H&R Block Deluxe. I have tried others, but I keep coming back to it. It works well enough and I can get my taxes done very quickly. The interview flow is very familiar. There are some minor annoyances when data checks and problems are found, and sometimes adding info after the first run of the interview can be tedious. I sometimes find fields that are completed where I have to reenter the data. Not a big deal, but it keeps coming up year after year. This being said, these are annoyances and not showstoppers. In the last twenty years it has been my go to tax package.

Even though I had the minimum required operating system on my Mac desktop; parts of the software would not work. I had to switch to a different computer with a newer operating system to get the program to download all of my stock trade data from my brokerage firm. Why can't you make the software functioning on all operating systems - even older ones?
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
