Seemed to be more dificult to navigate and use than in previous versions. Also font size and colors make it difficult to see.

There are some minor issues that need to be addressed. When you print off the state tax return, it should automatically print the federal form with it.

Decent enough software and the more complex the return, the more valuable the tax software becomes. However, there should be a disclaimer that ONLY federal tax filing is free and that, if you owe money to the IRS, you will be charged extra to pay your taxes online.

Suggest autocheck on W2 FICA and Medicare entries

When I first entered all my data, I accidently entered 22,695 for my Medicare cotnribution from my W2. The real number was 2,695, but the 2 key entered twice. After completing everything, I had about $10,000 for the refund, which made no sense to me based on last years return. I went through the alerts and checks revew, and the return still indicated a substantial refund. I knew this was incorrect and started trying to find the error. In the 1040 form on line 25c was listed 20,014 from "Other Forms". I went through the forms and found the same number on line 22 of form 8959 Additional Medicare Tax. So I had go back to the W2 and correct that entry.
My suggestion would be to inlcude a check in the software to identify an outsize Medicare (or FICA) value on a W2 . No one is goung to pay 10 x more than would be legally required to Medicare on their W2. I had to do some sleuthing to find this error, that a simple calculation by the program could have asked me if I was certain about the value input for Medicare taxes on the W2 form was far in excess fo what is required.
