Since they’ve been in the tax business so long with a good reputation I trust them to provide me with product that will let me easily prepare my returns and take advantage of whatever rules to make my tax liability as low as possible. I’ve used H&R BLOCK software for at least ten years to prepare my taxes.

I have used it for years - a bit of self training at the start as with any software package.I have used Turbo Tax and Maryland ifile. Turbo is too expensive and ifile is too quirky.

I have been using H&R Block tax software for a number of years now and up until the last two tax seasons I have been quite satisfied. However, after doing my taxes the last two seasons, the software indicated that I would be receiving a nice refund but on both occasions the IRS rejected the results and sent me a refund that was substantially smaller.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This software is easy to use. Helps you to not miss anything. The prints and explanations are also easy to get to, easy to understand. It uses everyday words to explain what is what. You don’t need an accounting degree to understand them!

I get all the forms I need for a reasonable price

Unlike the products of some other companies, the H&R Block software includes all of the forms I need. Some other companies will limit what forms you can fill out if you don't buy the top of the line product. In my case, I need a few of those forms for minor investment and self employment purposes; I don't need tons of elaborate guidance, just the ability to fill out the form for filing. H&R Block meets my needs in that regard. My only suggestion to H&R Block is that when they do provide definitions and explanations please accompany the tax specific language with an explanation in everyday language. In general the guidance is good but a little more use of common everyday language might help here and there.
