Steps you through the various forms. The process is explained well enough since taxpayers get used to going through the same routine each year. The only area that might need more hand holding and confirmation steps and checks is during the filing process when the taxpayer owes money, so as not to make the blunder of requesting to mail in taxes due and have the software flag to the IRS to request an ACH transfer, in parallel. That happened on a past Return when we had also sigificantly underwithheld, with a ACH transfer plus paper check representing significant funds that overdrew our checking account before I could shift funds over from savings.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

The software is always great, very helpful, but there are a few auto-fill issues. Some of the data from previous years I've used the product, or from elsewhere I've already filled in in the software transfers to the current/correct cells, but much of it doesn't and it's just a lot of extra typing. A small issue, but wonder why they've never fixed it.

I have used the H&R Block Deluxe Software for over ten years. Never had a problem - until this year. I was able to enter all of my information without issue, but, when I attempted to e-file my returns, I received an error message (1152) that stated that the software updates did not download successfully. I started an online chat with rep Michael, but he was not able to resove the issue. Then, I spoke on the phone with rep Kayla. After almost an hour of manipulating files, I was able to download the latest software updates. Kayla was very patient and understanding.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Hard to prepare

Have been preparing and filing my Federal and State taxes with H&R Block Deluxe for more than a decade. That says a lot about my trust in the application. Although I have multiple iPads, I had to purchase a new Windows laptop 2 years ago just for tax preparation. Having an iOS based application is my dream.

I'm having the same trouble downloading my 1099 info as I had last year. It works for Smith Barney but not Merrill Lynch. I had to put my ML info in manually.

I wish disappointed on the help center. You advertise you help with questions. I called was told they are just software help. You need to correct saying you help. State help in software only not tax questions.
Cons: Time consuming
