I bought this as I have for the last 10+ years. It has been reliable. However, recent cost increases for the package are extreme and improvements to the software seem to be limited to mandatory requirements. The sequence of input for the package does not really align with the sequence of the tax form and on the 1099R for the box number 7 for "IRA/SEP/SIMPLE" is stuck at the end of the input instead of in sequence and it has been for years. It seems like you only invest the minimum required to update the software and none to improve it, though you greatly update the cost.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

As always, really good. One criticism: I always fill out a Schedule C, and for some reason, all the companies that pay me via a 1099-MISC don't get imported each year, so I must re-key. All my other income streams come in fine, but not these.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

Although I find the software easy to use, the state portion has been lacking the last few years. The last 2 years it has been unable to file my state taxes electronically requiring me to print and mail the return. Since this happened last year, I tried to determine if this year would allow electronic filing, but nothing on line stated what might prevent electronic filing. I've used hr block for roughly 10 years but will have to try the competition next year

I used the product to file my taxes this year and it worked well. I had fair number of forms to enter and I think that the input efficiency could be improved by providing some some auto-fill features. For example, when entering the city in the address, program should ask for zip code first and then auto-fill city and state information. Similarly, when entering payer info, it should ask for the federal number first and auto-fill the payer information.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming
