I have become very dissatisfied with H&R Block. First, the advertising for the software is deceptive because it doesn't state the full price for transmitting state and federal returns. Second, I was massively disappointed in my refund. H&R Block software promised a substantial figure but I got about one tenth of that from the IRS. I will not use H&R Block again.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We had a problem with our CA return because we were too early filing but the software was unaware if that.
We entered our bank information to pay what we owed the IRS but received a letter from them today saying we did not pay and we owe them interest.
We have used this software for years and until now have been very satisfied.

Missing critical warning before filing Federal tax

I have used for many years to do my taxes and my relatives' taxes. Normally 5 Star. This year (only) I give it two stars because there was no warning related to requiring a mandatory trace request to the IRS if you did NOT get the third government "Economic Impact Payment" (COVID check) in 2021 that the government said you had received, BEFORE you can file your taxes. What a mess.

I feel that this software does a great job of helping you through the deduction process, which for me is the hardest part of doing my taxes. This year, I actually had enough deductions that I was able to itemize to get a higher refund than if I had just taken the standard deduction.
