Better option than exposing data to a others in order to prepare. I don't like hosting my data on-line with a server to do taxes. I am not a fan of using someone who then has access to all my info after I have filed. The home based H&R Block keeps data on my hard drive except for the eFile part. I used to get a DVD in the mail that I activated. That part appears gone and the back-up DVD is challenging to get. If they offered the back up DVD more reliably I'd give them 5 stars.
Easy to use with helpful guides throughout. Transfer of data from previous years for returns is a time saver and the ability to compare and contrast previous returns a real plus. Lastly, you can print an unlimited number of returns even though limited by five free submissions.
I made a mistake that the software should have caught. I filed as Head of Household, but for # of days my dependent lived with me I put 12 instead of 365(I was thinking months instead of days). The software should not have let me file as Head of Household with only 12 days. The FTB changed my filing status to Single and sent me a bill. I will send an amended return which I hope will resolve the issue.
easy to use, great for using with previous returns, easy to drop and drag documents. have used for many years with no issues, the teams are responsive to questions which is great!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I purchased H&R Block Deluxe + State software online. This means I'm supposed to get H&R Block Federal tax software and software to file in one state. This is the way it has worked for years. The file I downloaded is "HRBlock_Deluxe-State_HD.dmg"I installed and ran it using the code provided, but when it came time to process my state return, I had to. *pay extra* for the state software. It was not included as advertised. Until this glitch is rectified, I will not be recommending H&R Block to anyone, and will seriously think about switching to TurboTax.
