Very easy to use and most is intuitive. I still have minor problems with it but nothing that is a show stopper. I don't think it can be great for everyone because needs differ and understanding the text varies with all people. It works for me quite well.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Hard to import documents

Good for a basic return, issues with the complex

This is a good program if you are familiar with it and have some level of how to prepare taxes. It gives you the confidence that the math is correct, that it's been checked for missing elements, comparison to and uploading from prior years, and some audit protection that the free programs don't have. However, there are some aspects of the software that need to be made more intuitive. In 2024, I did not have a Roth conversion, but the previous year I did, and this program led me down a time-consuming path where I was led to believe that I needed a monthly calculation of income and deductions due to making the conversion and paying the taxes due on it in the third quarter of the year. The software seemed to "assume" that the conversion was akin to income and that I should have been paying taxes on it on an ongoing basis. Unfortunately, it wasn't until after I went through the machinations that the folly of this being logical hit me, and I looked and looked to find that I didn't need to do these calculations. That same year, I also itemized, which I hadn't done in several years, and I did not realize that the fed's calculated sales tax deduction wasn't meager like it used to be (when tabulating your own, a laborious task not helped by credit card companies not tracking this information even though they have it!). Lastly, in the data check section, this software frequently provides parts of forms that are suggested to be missing data that don't always make sense as to how to deal with it. Improvements in the software could avoid these kinds of issues. Hint: the price of the software varies widely from November to April, don't jump on the first offer.
