I'm a CPA who has used almost all the professional and mass market tax packages out there. My software of choice for home use is H&R Block. Easy to navigate or to parachute in to which part of a return you need to work on.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

Switched from turbo tax (when they excessively raised prices) many years ago and have not had any regrets or issues with H & R. It has handled my entire family's federal taxes and my non-resident state taxes easily. Installs and imports last years information, hardest part is waiting on the required forms 1099, w2 etc to come in.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Software has an error that I had to manually correct the input. H&R Block was notified, but my message was not responded too. If I hadn't caught the error, I would have had paid way more than was actually due. Will not use this software going forward. I have been using it for at least 10 years.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
