I have used Turbo Tax in the past and switched to H&R Block several years ago. It is far superior to Turbo Tax because it has a much more logical sequence of inputs and because it has much clearer explanations.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

I have used H/R Block for many years and think that you should a better explanation on screens that have changed. One that comes to mind is the screens for RMD- I could be wrong but I felt that one screen was asking how many RMDs did I have and I was confused because I only had one.

I have been using H&R Block software on Mac for more than 20 years. For the 2024 version on MacOS (Sequoia) 15.x and above, users beware.
The software is unable to update, including when adding a purchasing a state. This results in repeatedly prompting the user to buy the state, even when the package includes a free state module. The workaround that I ended up using involved resorting to a different Mac running older MacOS (Mojave?), which the H&R Software warned repeatedly that it doesn't support. I urge H&R Block software team to quickly issue a fix for it.
Until then, I cannot recommend it to Mac users.

I have always done my own taxes and this software is very easy for me to use even though I do not have a background in accounting. My taxes are not that simple. They involve a lot more than just plugging in a few numbers. I converted over from Intuit about 5 years ago because they had restrictions on how many home computers you could download their software to.
Pros: Easy to prepare
