I used a competitor product in the past, but H&R costs less and is just as good. I use the download version. Importing last year's return and connecting to financial institutions for dividend, capital gains, etc. are huge time saving features. Dealing with HSA accounts could be improved, especially for couples with 2 HSA accounts and catch-up contributions. For sure H&R takes the complexity out of filing Federal and State returns.
I’ve used H&R Block Tax software for many years. It’s easy to use. Just answer the questions and fill in the information. The program does everything for you.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
It was ok but have had better success with Turbo Tax. Due to the software not catching a schedule variation, I had to redo the schedule after the fact, send back to the IRS, and now my return is gravely delayed with a significant refund pending.
Used it for 2020 and got tax penalty from IRS because software made error in computation. Used for 2021 and could not get e-file to work had to submit by mail.
The state side did not ask for property tax info like usual even though we clicked on the question when asked. Did not think of it until after we submitted because it always automatically asked so probably cost my son about another $70 on his refund. Have used H&R Block for years and never had that happen before.
