This year, the HRB tax program did not request one's IRA account balance as of the last day of the year. They have in past tax years. The govt website lays out why they need this data. I'm anticipating this will become an issue that HRB clients are going to have to resolve with IRS after Apr 15th. Not what helpful.

I am a software developer. I have been using this product every year for 25 years. For a lot of software products and websites, as a professional software developer, I am quickly super-critical about the frustration I have with sloppy, non-intuitive, error-prone applications. However, with this software, I have long been impressed that it is intuitive, the Help actually helps, the GoTo takes you where you need to go, and I have NEVER encountered even ONE run-time error. My children know that when I praise things, it is really because I think they are worthy of praise. They understand that just-good-enough is not good enough to warrant praise.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

Way too many frustrations; won't use it next year

Several things didn't work in the software this year. Imported my W2, preview looked good, form ended up blank; had to enter by hand. Got errors in the audit because it didn't carry over my address or my wife's SS# in spots. It left line 11 (itemized deduction total) blank and asked me to put in a number (even though I went through all the itemized questions). Been using HR Block for years. Never had this many issues. Frustrating enough that I'll pay the extra for TurboTax next year.

The software was not intuitive and almost had us paying thousands more in taxes than we actually owed. Luckily, I knew better and was able to fix the issue. I had trouble finding where to enter some of our documents and spent a lot of time reviewing my return to ensure that it was correct.
I will be returning to TurboTax next year.
