i bought the software of download version on the first time (have been using the online version) and tried it out. i believe the online version was better and convenient.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund

First time Let down using since Softwareinception

Have used the H&R Block software for years, but this year I had a question Regarding a question and could not chat or find the answer I had to actually go out and look out on the Internet. This is the first year I was surprised and a little disappointment in the program.

Corrupted install leading to an endless update loop; the included state install did not work. Online support did help but the hassle was not worth the small cost savings. Has gotten buggier each year. This was year the final straw.

The purchasing of an additional state software was not good. Received error several times during the (unsuccessful) download process but the program charged the credit card three times. It was a difficult and very time-consuming process to request a credit for the incorrect charges. The customer tracking methodology is awful; it references an email but doesn't know which one (purchaser, preparer, or tax return).
