I switched to HRBlock a few years ago because their competitor stopped supporting my old Apple iMac computer. HRBlock seems to work as well as the competitor, other than crashing frequency, and it it less than half of the price. For example, after the 3/3/2023 update, HRBlock crashed when I clicked the 'Skip' button on the Start State return page. Just remember to save your return frequently. (Yes - I update the application when updates become available.)
We love using this program. The only problem we had was it kept telling us our driver license numbers did not match on federal and state returns. They did. I kept reentering the numbers thinking I did something wrong. There was another number error we had...but we were correct again. Despite the program telling us the return wouldn't be accepted I still e-filed. Both returns were accepted.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
Submitted 2/18, rejected due to buggy H&R Block software 2/18. Resubmitted after 3/2 update. 3/5 still waiting for return to be accepted. In the past I've always used H&R Block software, never again.
Appreciate the interviews, ability to download/import data from other sources to avoid making keystroke errors. Suggest a few things: 1) Highlight areas during the interview that user misses. Ex. business travel vehicle expenses. 2) Plan feature to estimate next year's taxes does not include categories such as pensions. I was unsure where to include.
I’ve used H&R Block tax software for many years and have always been very happy with the results. It’s price is reasonable and the software is very easy to use with easy instructions to follow.
