I've used H&R Block software for at least 5 years. Always worked fine, but this year it auto-filled last years AGI erroneously, which caused the IRS to reject my efile. I finally figured out what was wrong (after two sets of support calls, neither of which helped much). It was a disappointing experience. On the positive side, I got my refund quickly (once I figured out how to get the IRS to accept my return).
I’ve been using H&R Block Deluxe tax software for at least 8 years and I’ve very happy that it has worked well for me. I use to do my 3 children’s taxes too but now I do only the one still at home. I like the import feature and the help and final review features. I like doing my own taxes as keeps me informed on what changes the government makes. I like being able to complete my state taxes too. I filled electronically for the first time and it went very smoothly. My son got his refund back fast and I think mine is back but I have to check.
Block is fairly easy to use but isn’t particularly intuitive. I had used Tax Act for several years but stopped using it when that company disclaimed responsibility for a mistake I know that I did not make. Block seems to be accurate; I have never found a mistake nor been penalized by the Feds or the State for any errors.
