I have used HR Block to file my taxes starting with 2004 Tax Cut. I have used it the past 18 years. I have filed my taxes with it as an employee with W-2's and retirement IRA's and Roth and brokerage cash accounts. I use it also as a guide to roughly estimate and plan my future years taxes. I have also used Deluxe and State to plan and estimate IRA distributions, dividends, capital gains, and social security payouts to determine when the best time for me to start social security payments.

Makes doing taxes almost easy

I have been using H&R Block Deluxe and its predecessor (Tax Cut) since 1992, except for the year of transition when they did not make a Mac version. I find the interview style easy to use, yet it's easy to locate and find new things to enter, such as a late coming 1099DIV. Just use "Go To". It's also easy to connect with instructions in case you need to study a point. The only problem I ran into for 2022 was that the program would not update from the dialog box in the program on MacOS 13. I had to find and download the manual updaters. They were a little hard to find. Then the program blocked me from submitting via eFile because it did not know that it was updated.; however the updater program would not update again. I restarted the Mac in Safe Mode. M1 Macs and Intel Macs startup in Safe Mode differently, so that has to be looked up. Safe Mode starts up with minimal non-Apple extensions (anti-virus, VPN, etc.) After "updating" from the in-program dialog box, it let me file. So that was a hassle and concern. Other programs can update themselves without doing that, so I wish HR Block would figure it out. Other than that glitch, I highly recommend the program and I expect to use it again next year.
