Downloaded software from email and it had issues. Took forever to download. When I tried to print it hung up and I had to shut down. Uninstalled & reinstalled and had same problems. Software had a huge error in transferring interest and dividend total from Federal to State of AL. I reported on Feb 24 & finally got it resolved on Mar 17.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

on 3/20 - FINALLY, your application was able to connect to your update center for the first time this tax season? Why is that? Why were there no unfinished federal forms back in February, but I still couldn't file federal tax? Why could I not access the Virginia state tax that I paid for, until yesterday?
Cons: Time consuming

I’ve been using the software for 15 years. Needs one improvement— give the option to choose the standard deduction from the start. I’ve never been able to itemize but the software makes me go through all the entry anyhow. I don’t want to waste my time entering data just to be told I should choose the standard deduction when I already know that’s what I need and want to do. I could have my returns done in 15 minutes instead of 90. Please make this update H&R!!!!

I used H&R Block software for many years and the product is very straightforward. Taking you through a simple interview process, everything needed to calculate my taxes could be entered. Very convenient windows that let you jump between forms were present and you can go forward and backward in the interview to repair any mistakes. The software also submits your taxes electronically or prints forms for mail. My only criticism is that the software has not been updated in format for years and so retains no ability to zoom and seems to be designed for screen resolutions lower than today’s typical screen resolutions. To read everything, I have to change the screen resolution on my computer while working with the software. A minor inconvenience, but one that it seems could be easily addressed.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
