My wife has used this software for 20 years now and has always been able to get our full refunds back. I have done this and will continue even after his death in Dec 2022
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
H&R Block has been my go-to for Federal taxes for years, as it *usually* beats the competitor for inclusion and price. This year, I noted that the competitor may have been better; I'm not certain. HOWEVER, when it came to PA taxes, HRB fell short, wanting a form that it didn't support. Fine, I filed PA taxes *for free* using PA's own website, which is what I usually do - and THEY didn't want the form. Shame on you HRB for not including what, at its base, was one of the simplest forms you could do. I WILL be considering the "other guys" next year.
Fairly decent tax software but you have to have some degree of understanding. Very often you are given option with little guidance as to what these options will impact. Explanations for each line item are somewhat limited and, when asking for clarification, you are directed to the IRS instructions but not specifically. You have to look it up and due to the daisy chaining which refers to other forms and schedules, it is sometimes a challenge to figure out what information is required and how it impacts your return.
It totally botched the import of my W2s, and I work for a very large US company. It put things in the wrong columns (it said I had tip income when I am on salary) and couldn’t figure out my name and address.
It also couldn’t import from Wells Fargo.
If the import was improved I would give it 5 stars.
