I've used HRB for more than ten years. I've found the software easy to navigate and accurate. I couldn't ask for more. I guess I'm old fashioned as I've never filed, even with HRB, electronically. This year I took the plunge and HRB did an excellent job filing for me. I have recommended HRB to others and will continue to do so.
If I didn't have a friend who use to work doing taxes, I'd never would use H&R Block software. It is not user friendly to someone doing taxes on their own. We had to call IRS to get answers to questions on H&R forms. Too many poorly worded statements leave you wondering, " what does that mean?"
Found a verified software bug. Error messages need to be closer to where the error is. The error message did not explain what the error was, only that there was an error. The error message was first flagged after the data validation procedure.
I have used this program for quite a few years. The Federal went okay, as usual. This year the State program for Iowa was glitchy and had some incorrect information.
Really bad in that they will not let me take a deduction which I know is a correct one.. as per union etc.. Can't override or will not be able to efile which is necessary in NYS
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
I've used H & R Block software programs for many years. I'm happy with the program, but it seemed there were glitches, when going to accuracy review, they would show up, then tried to get errors to show up again - didn't. But when went to file there they were. ease of use wasn't as simple - but would buy again - is affordable & fairly straight forward to use.
It has, without warning, deleted a Payer's TIN, various addresses, even some minor imported financial data and perhaps some more I don't know about. I had a difficult time getting to the place where I could actually e-file it. On the +plus side, I could easily get help by phone early in the morning. On my last call (of 2), the helper understood the problems I was having, but obviously could not correct them. She was very patient and gave me some good suggestions, but the real issue seemed to be that the program had not been fully tested, I wondered if I had been sold a beta version.
